This time next week, the hubby and I will be packing the car full of BREAKS prologues to take up to the amazing Lakes International Comic Art Festival.
I’m really excited to be attending as a guest, and also as a patron this year! The guest list is pretty phenomenal and I’m blown away to be seeing my name alongside such incredible and varied creators. The macabre cute of Junko Mizuno, the bespectacled genius of Scott McCloud, the hilarious cute of Lizz Lunney, the infectious awesomeness of Becky Cloonan, the inky prowess of Sean Phillips, The legendary yearpants of Eddie Campbell, the…oh, man, seriously - I could go on and on. Check the list yourself :)———-I’m taking part in two events included in the mighty programme: Character Design clinic <— Join me as we turn drawings into real people! I mean…characters :)The Big Draw <— To say I’m nervous/excited is an understatement. Dave Gibbons, Boulet, Mark Buckingham and ME! Drawing live. Sitting on settees. And drawing more. This is an evening entertainment event and should be good fun…and terrifying :DBe sure to get your tickets now so that you’re all set. And don’t forget that there’s a massive and FREE popup fringe festival as part of the show, including an interactive Viz comics museum and live draw events!———-
And that’s not even starting on the Comics Clocktower, where you’ll find the likes of Paul Duffield, Kate Ashwin, Mike Collins, Andy Diggle…a ton of creators and a host of publishers. —-Lastly, if you want to pre-plan really well and were hoping to bag a limited edition giclee print from me or one of the other 7 guests who contributed, you can get yours now here!
It’s going to be an amazing weekend, where the whole of Kendal becomes one big comic town. I have family up there telling me that already the town is covered in art and posters and banners…all very exciting. Hope to see you there!

"Get off of my page!"Bit of a huge snippet here, and hopefully not too spoilerific to anyone who hasn’t read the book (Good luck if you can decipher my messy pencils, haha. And, after all - it’s a spy story…action happens ^_~) - But I really wanted to share this WIP as I think it makes sort of a nifty image at this stage :)

Probably not a look you want Nile to be giving you…

Probably not a look you want Nile to be giving you…

Hi, guys~!

Sorry I’ve not been able to post any teasers recently. As those of you who know the book will know, it gets harder to show anything that doesn’t spoilerise this amazing story!

But it sounds like we WILL have the official cover to share with you soon, direct from Walker books themselves. It’s looking great! Expect to see it in the next couple of weeks ^_^

I continue to be blown away by how amazing these pages are looking in colour. Kate and Nathan are doing such a fab job ^_^
It can be hard, when you’re working as the artist on a longform book like this, to stay happy with what you’re doing. You’re alone, sending pages off into the ether, and you can start to doubt yourself. But when I see the pages come back all coloured up, they make me feel positive all over again. ^_^

This is very much NOT official ;)
So the amazing John Allison (bad machinery - check it out!) decided to ink over the pencils I posted up this morning, which was super useful of him as meeting rooms are tiresome to ink.
The result was pretty awesome and so I quickly edited Scorpia to fit his work in. Works fine, don’t you think? ^__^

A bit of fun and nonsense :)
